SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK
According to the Pastoral Care of the Sick (the instruction for ministry to the sick and dying, and approved by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, and confirmed by the Apostolic See), the sacrament of the Anointing is "the proper sacrament for Christians whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age." It should be celebrated at the beginning of a serious illness or before surgery. The celebration of this sacrament is meant to take place "while the sick person is capable of active participation." The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing and can only be administered by a priest or bishop. Twice a year, St. Therese of Lisieux Parish celebrates this sacrament in the contact of the Eucharist (another healing sacrament). Even though we all suffer from various troubles and trial, this sacrament is intended for those who are "seriously impaired by sickness or old age" Please call 517.487.3749 for further questions or to make a personal appointment.
Becoming a member of our faith community is as easy as contacting the parish office at 517.487.3749. You can also pick up a registration packet in the gathering space, near the entrance of the church.
The Catholic Church warmly welcomes new members through the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). If you have been thinking about becoming Catholic, or if you know of a friend or family member who may be interested in becoming Catholic, you are invited to contact the parish office. The RCIA is designed to be a year-long process so the candidates can experience an entire church year. During the church year, the process includes prayer and worship experiences, church doctrine, scripture and faith sharing. It is designed for adults and children ages 7 and up who: Have never been baptized / have been baptized in another faith denomination and wish to continue their faith journey as Catholics / have been baptized but have not been brought up in the Catholic faith
